    The Mission
Can you imagine a day
When one bright morning
Someone came to town and took the children away
Someone came to town and took all the children
Took them and carried them far far away

So now you're in a town
Without any children
Only grieving parents with nothing left to say
Oh but what can we do, how can we find them
Now that they've been taken far far away

So the leader of the town set out to find the children
Headed for Missouri where he heard that they would stay
He rode many miles all across the wide prairie
All through the night and all through the day

When he finally found the childre
They were living at the mission
Working for the church making goods to sell
Cause the church needs money to keep the mission going
So the children learned to make all the things the church could sell

The girls worked on sewing
And the boys worked with wood
They worked all day making all that they could
And at night they slept in an attic that was four feet tall
And if they didn't speak English,
They weren't allowed to speak at all

So the leader of the Osage
Asked the men who had his children
Why must you take them so far far away
They explained how they would teach them to read and write
They explained how they would teach them how to have a better life

So the leader of the Osage
Asked the men who had his children
What can we do to see our children again
Oh the answer is simple all you have to do is ask
Just ask the church to build a mission on your land

So this is the story of the Osage Mission
Built by the church upon the Osage Land
Because the Osage people had requested that they build it
And the church is always willing to lend a helping hand
